The Learning Garden at Tom Graham Park is GROW Local South Texas’s community teaching garden, a safe learning space where anyone can learn how to plant, GROW and harvest fresh produce and integrate the value of local food into their daily lives alongside experienced growers.
Located at 3808 Up River Road in Corpus Christi, TX it is a city park that GROW Local South Texas manages through The City of Corpus Christi’s adopt-a-park program. It is a large median park with a nice walking track around it that attracts nearby residents. It is located in a neighborhood that is a low-income, low-access zip code and region. In addition to the developing food forest, The Learning Garden also features many active demonstration sites throughout: light till and no-till tracts, raised bed gardening, a hoop house, a compost area, a worm composting tower, an herb spiral garden, a hugelkulture bed, native plant varieties and a working beehive.
