The South Burlington Community Garden is located on City of South Burlington land that is rented by the National Gardening Association (NGA). NGA adminsters the gardens. We have 30, 25 x 30 foot plots available for renting. One-half sized plots are also available.
Each year NGA amends the soil with compost in order to improve the soil structure of this mostly clay site. There are mowed grass paths in the garden and 3 water spigouts free for the gardeners to use. NGA tills the garden in spring and fall and, to date, doesn't have perennials growing in the garden.
The community garden is part of an overall 14 acre site. The plan by NGA is to develop teaching gardens on the site. Presently we have 7 other gardens that free and open to the public. We also teach classes on site.
