The Elliotborough Community Garden is located in the new Elliotborough Park at 134 Line Street in Charleston, SC. The site is home to the historic “old city garage” building, which is a large brick structure built in the late 1800s. This new urban park was created by the City of Charleston Parks Department in cooperation with the volunteers of the Cannonborough-Elliotborough Neighborhood Association in October of 2008. The Charleston Parks Conservancy began managing the garden at the request of the neighborhood in 2010. In addition to open green space, a stage, and playground, the park is home to one of Charleston’s first community gardens. The garden consists of 20 raised beds, three of which are maintained by local school programs, 17 are individual garden beds maintained by neighborhood residents, and there is a common gardening area where we are growing produce to donate to local food pantries or to allow families in the neighborhood to practice gardening and harvest fresh produce.
