The Blandy Garden for the Community (BGC) is a 10,000-square-foot fenced garden. The garden includes eight plots that are tended by groups or families. We prepare the garden in the spring, and we also provide some seeds. Water is available outside the garden gate, and a small storage shed and a composter are on site.
Garden plots are provided free of charge. In return, participants agree to maintain their garden through the season, to use only organic techniques, and to donate a portion of what they grow to a food bank or soup kitchen. This last requirement provides the major impetus for establishing the BGC, which will have its first growing season in 2008.
6′ fence, 8′ arbor, raised beds range in size from 225-400 sq ft, 3 gates, water pump, small shed, composter
bathrooms, water fountain and shaded tables nearby.
Additionally there is parking at the garden.
